In addition to having two of the best marathoners in the fold in Kara Goucher and Meb Keflezighi, the Skechers Performance brand has continued to push and improve its core running shoes. Its flagship GoRun shoe underwent a complete overhaul for its fourth edition, and the end result was a more versatile, higher-mileage training shoe. Changes included a thicker foam undercarriage, a broader waist and a new form-fitting upper. Even though it’s vastly different from previous models, the new GoRun maintains the snug fit, supreme flexibility and soft, natural-feeling ride. It has less of a rockered profile than previous models, and the dual-density midsole foam configuration makes it slightly more supportive and better for longer training runs, tempo runs and longer speed workouts. This shoe still has a predominantly soft and insubstantial feeling and lacks the structure and protection of other shoes intended for long-distance training.
This is the shoe for you if … You’re looking for a versatile, softly cushioned training shoe for short to medium-length runs that’s versatile for some faster-paced workouts like tempo runs and fartlek workouts.
